Expert Workshops for the development of an Action Plan on the 8EAP and future EU and National Environmental Policy: October 2018

Am 23. Oktober 2018 fanden 3 ExpertInnen-Workshops zur Verfeinerung der bisherigen Projektergebnisse (Backround Report,Policy Forum), zur Vertiefung einzelner Schwerpunktbereiche sowie zur Erarbeitung konkreter Schritte für ein 8.UAP im Alten Kloster in Hainburg (Österreich) statt. Ziel der Expertinnen-Workshops war, konkrete Ideen sowohl für die Struktur als auch für die Inhalte eines 8. Umweltaktionsprogramms zu entwickeln. Die ExpertInnenworkshops fanden zu den folgenden Themenschwerpunkten statt:

  1. Driving systemic change through future EU and national environmental policies (WS I)
  2. The role of business and finance in future EU and national environmental policies (WS II)
  3. Strengthening accountability and sharing responsibilities in future EU and national environmental policies (WS III)

Um ein ergebnisorientiertes Arbeiten zu ermöglichen, wurden die Workshops professionell von ausgebildeten Design Thinking ModeratorInnen angeleitet. Im Anschluss an drei Impulsvorträgen wurden konkrete Vorschlägen unter professioneller Anleitung in Kleingruppen ausgearbeitet.

Die Ergebnisse der Workshops wurden beim informellen Rat in Graz am 29.Oktober präsentiert.

On 23rd October 2018, three expert workshops were hold at the Altes Kloster in Hainburg (Austria) to further refine the outcomes of the Background Report and the Policy Forum as well as to expand on individual areas of focus and develop practical steps for an 8EAP.

Based on the outcomes of the Policy Forum and moving from theory to practice, the three different workshops provided participants with an opportunity to actively participate in the development of concrete action steps for future EU and national environmental policy. Guided by professional moderators, participants developed practical ideas for both content and structure of an 8EAP. Together they explored and took forward solutions to Europe’s most pressing issues and identify pathways for

  1. Driving systemic change through future EU and national environmental policies (Workshop I)
  2. The role of business and finance in future EU and national environmental policies (Workshop II)
  3. The strengthening of accountability and the sharing of  responsibilities in future EU and national environmental policies (Workshop III)

The workshops brought together representatives from civil society organisations, the administration, think tanks, businesses, politics and local authorities.

The results of the workshops were presented at the Informal Environmental Council on 29th October in Graz (Austria), which focused on the “added value of an 8EAP at EU level”.
