Der "Background Consultation Report" ist ein Hintergrundpapier zum Policy Forum, das am 13. Juni 2018 in Wien stattfand sowie Teil und Grundlage eines größeren Projekts zur österreichischen Ratspräsidentschaft und zum 8. EU-Umweltaktionsprogramm (8UAP) ("AT 18 - Von der österreichischen EU-Ratspräsidentschaft zur 8. EU-Umweltaktion Programm").

Das Hintergrundpapier enthält für jede der Prioritäten des 7. UAP eine Darstellung der bisherigen Aktivitäten, eine Einschätzung des aktuellen Status und Vorschläge für erforderliche zukünftige Maßnahmen (bis 2020 und darüber hinaus). Ziel ist es, darüber zu diskutieren, was in den prioritären Bereichen noch getan werden muss, welche Umweltprioritäten über 2020 hinaus erhalten bleiben sollen, welche spezifischen Maßnahmen erforderlich sind und wie ein 8EAP aussehen könnte, um die gesetzten Ziele zu erreichen. In jedem Kapitel gibt es Fragen zur Diskussion. Der Bericht wurde auch den TeilnehmerInnen des Policy Forums zugänglich gemacht.

The "Background Consultation Report" can be downloaded HERE.

The report is a background report to the environmental Policy Forum being held in Vienna on 13 June 2018 and part of a broader project on the upcoming Austrian Presidency and the 8EAP ( "AT 18 - From the Austrian EU Council Presidency to the 8th EU Environment Action Programme", project organized by the Umweltdachverband (UWD) in collaboration with the European Environmental Bureau (EEB) and supported by the Ministry of Sustainability and Tourism (BMNT) and the European Union).

The background paper presents, for each of the priorities of the 7EAP, their objectives, progress to date, status today, and required actions (to 2020 and beyond). The aim is to have a basis upon which to debate what still needs to be done in the priorities areas, what should remain environmental priorities beyond 2020, what specific action would be needed, and what could an 8EAP look like to address these.

In each chapter there are questions for the policy forum debate. The report was also be made available to the participants of the Policy Forum.
